What a depth of knowledge on the board here. It actually looks like a German/Sauer sourced frame and twist tubes from Belgium? Can you give us a pic of the barrel flats and just ahead of the flat? Yes, you are missing the strikers as well as the retaining screws.

Hi Raimey,

I will ask Pete if he will post some more pictures so you can see. I can't post pictures because I don't have a web site. There are no other markings other than Clark and Sneider and one place with the name of CE Sneider Pat. but no patent number. One guy at a gun shop looked at it and opened it up but said there was a trick to getting the barrel off and he didn't want to mess with it. Maybe Pete or Dave might know but I don't sorry.

That is their lower priced hammer gun the "Patent Solid Grip, Top Lever, Self-Closing Gun" in either the lowest $55 grade if those are "Plain Twist" barrels or the $65 grade if the barrels are "Fine English Twist." That model went up to $80 with Damascus barrels and finer engraving, and was only offered in 12- and 10-gauge. Clark & Sneider's better gun was their "Patent Double Grip, Top Lever, Self-Closing Gun" which in various grades, all with Damascus barrels, went from $100 to $300. $100 to $150 guns were only offered in 12- and 10-gauges, while from $175 and up you could also get 16- 8-gauges.

Neat old gun...

At first glance it appears to be a fairly nice gun after seeing inside the action I'd keep it as a wall hanger.
