MAL: It is most highly unlikely the Whippet Recoil Pad is original to your Griffin and Howe. I grew up in a 3rd. generation gun store and Whippet pads were sold in our store and routinely mounted on mid level shotguns...Remington's and the like. I believe G&H used Silvers and some No Shok Pads primarily in the early days of their use and then Pachmayr's thereafter. You might want to consider having one of the reproduction red brick Silver pads installed professionally. They are available at JEFF'S OUTFITTERS CAPE GIRARDEAU MO at a reasonable price. The last authetic N.O.S. Silvers Pad on ebay circa 1931 went for over $200. Good Luck Jerry
