What about Ozone?
After a house fire, ozone generators are used to remove the smoky smell. Anybody ever try this? It might be a decent way to treat aging leather goods.

I'd take a Goodwill suitcase to a fire restoration place and see if it works. Chemicals will just mask the smell.
