We seem to be getting some discrepancies on the actual sale prices at the recent RIA auction. Dave, do your prices include hammer fee/buyer's premium? It's unusual to see a Repro with a pad rather than the original skeleton butt, but I'd guess that would drop the value a fair amount.
Jager, what you have there is a pre-Browning sidelock made by Miroku. That's probably a good price in terms of "gun for the money", but the Browning name will add value. The BSS Sidelock 20's have really gone up in price. (Recently saw one tagged at $6500!) 12's have too, but not nearly as much.
wyobirds, I've owned 28ga Repros with both splinter and BT forends, paired with a straight grip. The 28ga Repro is a very light gun to start with, and in my experience, the BT--which is more along the lines of a fairly modest semi-BT--adds just enough weight to make it a bit easier gun to shoot well. Generally, I agree with Zutz on the SG/splinter thing--certainly on 12's. But add in the fact that far fewer Repros were made with a BT, and that it's still an extremely light and fast-handling gun even with one . . . plus even rarer when paired with the DT . . . and you get a gun that's going to be worth more on the market.
