We seem to be getting some discrepancies on the actual sale prices at the recent RIA auction. Dave, do your prices include hammer fee/buyer's premium? It's unusual to see a Repro with a pad rather than the original skeleton butt, but I'd guess that would drop the value a fair amount.
Jager, what you have there is a pre-Browning sidelock made by Miroku. That's probably a good price in terms of "gun for the money", but the Browning name will add value. The BSS Sidelock 20's have really gone up in price. (Recently saw one tagged at $6500!) 12's have too, but not nearly as much.
wyobirds, I've owned 28ga Repros with both splinter and BT forends, paired with a straight grip. The 28ga Repro is a very light gun to start with, and in my experience, the BT--which is more along the lines of a fairly modest semi-BT--adds just enough weight to make it a bit easier gun to shoot well. Generally, I agree with Zutz on the SG/splinter thing--certainly on 12's. But add in the fact that far fewer Repros were made with a BT, and that it's still an extremely light and fast-handling gun even with one . . . plus even rarer when paired with the DT . . . and you get a gun that's going to be worth more on the market.

I have a 2 barrel 28 ga. set and the 26" barrels are skeet 1 & skeet 2, the 28" barrels are F & M. It seems the most common chokes on the 26 " barrels are Mod and IC. Was the S1 & S2 an uncommon choking on these guns? Thanks, Gordon

There were many Repros sold at RIA, in all price ranges, but, in general, the prices were low compared to recent individual sales. Two 28-.410 sets sold in the tens and twelves and that is low. I have no explanation for the three barrel set that sold in the low twenties just because it had one more set of 28 gauge barrels.

I think the RIA Repro with the pad was also sized for a midget, with a 13-1/2" LOP over the pad. That would have had a significant effect on price.

Gordon, are those barrels marked skeet 1 & 2 or quail 1 & 2? I had a Repro 28ga, 26", choked quail 1 & 2. The constrictions measured 004/007, which IMO is pretty darned good for a 28ga quail (or grouse & woodcock) gun. From what I've seen, IC/M is by far the most common choke combination on 28ga's with 26" barrels.

I'm not surprised the IC & M chokes were more popular. The Quail 1 and 2 designation seemed to belong on a Turkish over under with pink spacers under the recoil pad.

Larry, the left barrel is marked SKEET 2 and the right is marked SKEET 1.

Interesting. Can you measure the constrictions?

I'm not sure how to measure the constriction. The catalog with the Barbour jacket on the cover lists skeet 1 & 2 as an option on 26" barrels of all gauges. don't know how long they offered it.
