I've asked this once before..but didn't get a firm answer if I remember right.
This thing about your garden variety two bbl lump gun ...One of those Best Gun things like Art' Trigger, Bushed Pins etc
Supposedly better if lumps do not protrude through the bottom of the action, at least that's the general idea that I've read.
I often ponder this...seems to me that it would be way easier to take some "Fat" off the bottom of the lumps so that they lay atop the upper/inside of the bottom of the action.
It seems like a real lot of work to make those two lump holes in the action bottom with the way the lumps arc through the holes, & try to make things look seamless??
Or is there more to it..like a strength/design issue??
