I'm not sure we have the brightest bulbs at the NRA which saddens me. I rejoined and sent a significant donation over three months ago and haven't heard a peep from them since......no magazines, no patches, no window stickers, no literature, no requests for more money........nothing. I've made three phone calls to them to see what's going on with my new membership. Each time I was reassured that everything was proceeding on schedule. I'm glad they aren't running the NICS checks!
I saw Larry Pratt, the director of Gun Owners of America on TV the other day. I thought he was well reasoned and well spoken in his interview with the MSM. He seemed to have a very firm but friendly approach to the 2d in his arguments that I don't usually see when the NRA guys (usually Nasty Wayne)are interviewed.
I don't know anything about GOA except what I have read on their website since seeing the Pratt interview. Anyone here have insites or experience with them personally? Is it worth being a member and is there something there which is above and beyond the NRA?

Certainly nothing wrong with being a member of other pro-gun organizations, so long as you support(with Membership money)the NRA first. They are still the only game in town that has any real power. The NRA gets the politicians' attention better than all the other wannabes put together. Nobody else even comes close.

The GOA is worth joining also... If you sign up for their e-mail notifiations, you will receive a very user-friendly tool for contacting your elected officials on any upcoming legislation. I know the NRA also has this capabilty but I think the GOA is more comprehensive....check it out.....: http://gunowners.org/ http://capwiz.com/gunowners/home/

No one else has had the cahones to stand up to the socialist controlled "main stream media " until Wayne LaPierre, The Executive VP in charge of the NRA did it live on CNN the other day. These other organizations are fine to support but they don't have the clout of the NRA. I hope to get to personally thank him this Friday. I would like to see the NRA or another one of the pro-gun organizations take a greater interest in directly and vigorously attacking oppressive STATE laws. I think this is the "nidus of the infection" and allowing these laws to flourish in states like Hawaii, California, Illinois, Massachusetts and others eventually trickles up and leads to the nastiness we less often see at the national level. I applaud their efforts in the D.C. case but would like to see more of the same. I don't think there is a major push in that area right now.
I finally received a packet from the NRA yesterday more than three months after they cashed my check.
