Don't know about thinners in the can, but I don't like bottles, in aprx. 1 year you will throw this bottle away, 'cause TO from this bottle won't dry any more, when I used one "lost" can of spray in 3 years after purchasing and it was OK. The only issue with spray is head of sprayer, when can is allmost empty head dries sometimes, but it's easy to fix it by removing black plastic part from head using needle and to clean all parts of head.
Spray is spray and you'll get very smooth surface every single layer, for checkering finishing there is nothing better.
