Stan,

The PM's are weird and unreliable on this board; you might need an email for Walt.

The barrels are now 30". I was wondering if it would have been both choked improved cylinder from factory. Thanks for the info. I will have to give Gunter a call. As of now the buttstock is badly cracked, the fore end is in good condition, the barrels and action have been reblued, left barrel has a spot about midway on the outside which is badly pitted. The gunshop where I picked up at thought the barrels needed to be resoldered. The engraving on the receiver is pretty good but probably sanded at one time. Is the engraving something that can be freshened up? Stan

Stan, engraving can be re-cut, its all a matter of how much you are willing to put into the gun. Gunter can probably do or arrange for everything except growing the barrels 2 inches. The gun was probably full/full when it left the factory(are there choke marks?). IC is still a very usable situation and you can always have them tubed. My favorite SC gun is a 28 inch Grade 2 with IC and light Mod. Not too good on 50 yard targets(nether am I) but deadly on anything out to 40 yards. In any case, good luck with your treasure.

Stanley--I think I would save my money. Barrels are the key to most guns and since these are cut and the remainder of the gun has been abused--it is not a candidate for restoration in my opinion. You would be looking at costs of over $1200 and more depending on the engraving issues. Not a worthwhile project.

I haven't been able to find choke marks on the underside of the barrels? Maybe I'm looking the wrong place?

Bill, I will see what Gunter says. The gun has every option that was available when it was built and I think it would make a great dove hunting gun. Stan

The choke marks would be on the barrel flats but many of the earlier NIDs did not have them for reasons unknown.
