Hello, i´m new in this forum and i hope someone can help me to identify a chasse firearm.

The barrel where made by a french manufacteur call Jean Breuil, the gun is a "Lejay" and i never see this brand of firearms. Anyone knows this brand....Lejay???
In the barrel´s are 3 marks of the st etienne city where are made the test´s. The gun have one inscription "Brevete S.G.D.G"m i think it means that the brand is not patented by the goverment...is this true???

Is a over an under firewarm 12/70.

Is a god weapon and have some value? really i don´t know what kind a weapon i have....

Photos of the weapon:

Thanks a lot.

Best regards

Hello and welcome,

Jean Breuil was a maker in Saint-Etienne from 1927 to about 1948.

S.G.D.G means that the French government has granted the patent without prior examination. It was a very French method of granting a patent. It was done from 1844 to 1968.

That's a Verney Carron Sagittaire, either a model 747 with ejectors, or a model 728, with extractors. The profile is hard to mistake. I have no idea who who LeJay was, but, could have been a retailer who contracted for the production from Verney Carron.
A Sagittaire is a very good, but, not best, O/U gun, with a very low profile. The firing pins are arranged in a straight line configuration, and driven by coil springs. The lockup of the action is similar to a Beretta, with steel pins in the breech face meeting recesses in either side of the breech end of the barrels. I'm pretty sure they were only made in 12 gauge.
The straight stock and double triggers make for a wonderful hunting combination on an O/U, in my opinion. Very nice gun.
Best,
Ted

Suggest using the "Macro" mode on your camera to take closeups. They should come out much sharper and in focus.
