From what I see in the pictures only the action has real value, and unfortunately it appears to have been abused by a buffing wheel. By all means do what you want with it. Or sell it to me...Personally, I would recommend the later.

It would make a fine Creedmoor rifle, but not necessarily an authentic one. I don't think any W-R '97s were made in target configuration. The long range matches were pretty much over before its introduction, at least for the large bore single shots. None the less it is a way cool action and would make an interesting and unique rifle. The action would be legal in both NRA and World sanctioned matches.
