Hi George

Thankfully, If I do this It will be sent to colorado. That was kind of my question earlier, is the exporter responsible to gather the correct doc to "prove" it is an antique. I will need to call them back next week to get some more info.

rather confusing process at first, I am still not sure I am going to do this, as I don't want the cost to spiral out of control.

Jordan to be honest a $2000 gun will cost about $200 - $400 by the time it gets to you. Depends on some things but for one gun it isn't cheap.

When I import customs charge 11% of the stated value of the gun. Stated by exporter or copy of paid receipt from seller.

Mike, I don.t know if the 11% is for an antique but I enter Side by Side Shotguns as 9303.20.00.80 under Harmonised Tarrif Schedule of U.S. 2008 which is 2.6% plus 0.25% merchandise fee or figure 3% to cover. You're not paying 11% Pitman Roberts raytes are you ?

About 6 years ago I saw a nice looking "Antique" Greener Screw Grip steel bbl Hammer Pigeon Gun on Atkins G & Lang site, bought it with plastic, & I greeted the UPS man at my door about 10 days later...all in good order , & no probs...though I was sweating heavily during those 10 days , you can be sure !
perhaps I was just lucky.....loved the Gun ever since.

British UPS will no longer ship guns out of country I'm told. 3 or 4 years ago mine were being mailed.

It was my understanding that with an antique gun (>100 years old, as they all now are) there is an exemption from duties. Antique (>100 yr.) anything, in fact. Am I mistaken?
