Wow, nice work on a nice gun.
Just another example of why its almost impossible for me to buy any new production guns out there (CSM excluded)
YThere is somethgn that the older guns have that just makes them so much more appealing. whether reconditioned like this one or as is.

My recently-acquired Lindner Daly 185, 12ga with 26" barrels, Featherweight, weighs all of 5 3/4#. They are really nice guns.

I am curious what wood finish you used to create that nice low-gloss look.

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. It is inspirational. Any secrets you could share in the wood finish would be most appreciated.

That is going to be a tough gun to shoot well, Larry. "Beautiful" isn't always the same as "Useful". Best, Ted

You should be pleased, it's very appealing to the eye. To me, it IS what an older gun should look like after restoration. I tend to prefer the ones that have not been re-case colored.

I don't know which is my favorite German now; the Simson the Sauer or the Lindner!!! All of those high grade Germans are without a doubt choice.

To all, thank you for the kind words!
The Daly turned out as well as I expected. I didn't try to remove all of the character marks from the wood. I did remove as many of the dents as I could but if there was a minor stain here and there, it stayed. The gun is 100 years old and it shouldn't be perfect.
This Daly has 28" barrels and weights 6lbs 4oz with the leather covered pad. It also balances exactly on the hinge pin. The chokes are .007 right barrel and .026 left. It should make for an ideal upland gun.
The finish that I used on the Daly is Laurel Mountain Forge Permalyn. It's not so much what I use as how I apply it... Thank you Bounty paper towels.
Glenn and I will be at the Southern this year hanging around Ken Hurst's table so if you get a chance stop by and say hello. Glenn is going to bring his "new" Lefever and I'll have the Daly and also my Fox for some fun in the (I hope)sun. I'm REALLY tired of winter!

Doug, I'm really glad to hear that you will be at the Southern with Glenn. I have a long list of guns to bring, but I may bring my most recent Lindner Daly Diamond for you to look at. My Lindners are not light bird guns like yours, but mostly pigeon and wildfowl guns. We are a bit of a hotbed of Lindner activity around here and I hope some of our friends bring their guns for show and tell. Bill Murphy
