Cary whoever you are: Dave decided to allow threadss as they related to firearms news or legislation to be posted right here in the main body of the forum where it belongs. Perhaps you don't care what happens to our firearms rights and if that's the case don't read these threads. No one is attacking anyone here other then the anti-gun trolls who show up and try to cause trouble and dissention within our hobby.
Quote from Cary: "dosen't reply to the personal insults you're throwing his way."
I have just reviewed all the posts in this thread and no one has personally insulted anyone so your statment above is not true.
Jim

Dave K- Yes they are coming for the shotguns and I'm as concerned about it as you. Just don't think this is the proper forum.
Italiansxs- Whoever I am? I'm Cary Nelson and identified as such in my profile. I've been around this and many other boards for many years and seen too many destroyed by political discussion to stand by and watch this, the best of the remaining boards, go down the tubes because you can't seem to grasp the concept of one forum for shotguns and one for everything else.
You're cause is both correct and just, it simply doesn't belong in this forum.
I'll let it go at that. I've said my peice and will simply ignore this thread from here out.
Cary

I specifically left politics out of this. All my original post did was provide information that corrects the "90% of all firearms used in Mexican crimes originate from the United States". This is information useful to anyone who would care to refute this 90% figure the next time some gun grabber tosses it out. If you think this is "politics" so be it.

What if Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson his good friend John Adams could not handle the "tough talk" had to run to Misfires whenever things got hot? Our country would never even got off the ground. We must sharpen the blade. Plus, that's not ALL we talk about, we do sling some gunn'en chit chat from time to time when we have to.

mexicans don't need american guns. matter of fact i once shot their .45 caliber pistola and it was at least as good as colt 1911 (looked quite similar except the slide was roundish and did not seem to have flat sides). made in mexico city if i remember correctly.

Jagermeister: What you are referring to is the Mexican Obregon 45 auto pistol. There are similiar to our Browning designed 45 autos but did have some unique features. They were made in very small quantities and command a big premium from Colt type collectors. Jim

400 Nitro Express- You're correct. I confused PeteM with peter m. Apologies to PeteM for any confusion I may have caused but stand by my request this thread be moved to Misfires, I hate to think we'll allow this board to be destroyed the way SSMBBS was by allowing political discussions to rip us apart. There are too many alternatives to using this board for other than the discussion of shotguns.
Cary Cary, There were quite a few political discussions right here in the shotgun forum during the past election cycle and we did not become "ripped apart". It is unfortunate our discussions here and elsewhere just wasn't enough to turn the tide against the current administration, so once again we are on the defensive. Jim (itialiansxs) has been a consistant defender of our Second Amendment rights, so when peter m. took him to task, I immediately thought of p-mag who thankfully seems to have left us. If an anti gun troll like p-mag leaves our company, that is not "ripped apart", that is a small victory. Unfortunately, politics and guns, even two-barreled guns, are intimately entwined so burying our heads in the sand and ignoring the coming storm could help the anti's get us to the point where discussing our old shotguns is all we have left. Dave Weber is obviously intelligent enough to see that. Stuff about dog training collars, or decoy collecting, or the like should probably go to the Misfires forum, though my effective solution to off topic items was to simply not read what did not interest me. The stuff that may well affect our very right to posess and shoot our doubles belongs front and center, right here where the majority spend their time.

Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

This type of argument "It doesn't belong here" is the same type that's made by the antis whenever the Eddie Eagle NRA program is discussed. "Firearms education doesn't belong in the schools." The more these people can do to keep the general public blissfully unaware of the lies and exaggerations put out by the gun grabbers the more likely they are to succeed. It's when things come out in the open that they go down in failure like the original assault weapons ban. This cost several congressmen their seats and thats why 65 of them wrote to the Obama Administration and asked that this legislation NOT be introduced again.
Keith: You made some excellent point in your above post.
Cary: I have been posting on multiple forums for over 10 years and I have yet to see one "torn apart" by keeping the membership informed of issues and legislation that could affect their hobby. Jim

Cary, you are pobably right- but please consider this. This column is the first, the Mis-fires is the last of the ones ourt gracious host Dave offers. Maybe that more readers go to this one to start their on-line session here, just a guess. I read some things inot this spiritied discussion, and in a way the disagreements are good, if they bond us to one goal- our long-term battle against the anti's-how many stamp collectors or bird watchers get as passionate as we legitimate gun ownrs do, and with very good reason. If we can overlook the minor points of view and work together, we have a chance. It might be easy, in theory, for a, let's say- Black Powder or Damascus shooter to say- "Well, the gang bangers want MAC-10's and AK-47 clones, I'm just a drop in the weapons' oceans, so I'm safe from the "Feinstein-Brady Bunch-Schumer-Dodd-Bloomberg Gruppen"- maybe for now, but NFL- Not For Long. Patton always admonished to NEVER underestimate the strength of an enemy position, these Aunties ain't gonna fold their little Liberal tents and go away.
