Lets use this opportunity to turn the antis against themselves. Secretary of State says the violence along our border is very dangerous and increasing. Points out the bad guys there are heavily armed. News media is reporting Phoenix is kidnapping capital of the world. Those two events are not a signal to disarm - but to make sure you are armed to ward of the threat! We need to trumpet that Hillary says Mexican border is great threat to us, lets get armed to protect ourselves. Of course the treat of Obama to reinstate the "assault weapons" ban has already cleared the shelves so maybe we will have to wait for the drug cartels to start delivering weapons across the border for us to buy to protect ourselves. Hillary, you need to close the border or they will soon be delivering blackmarket guns across along with drugs and illegal immigrants who are finding work while Americans are being laid off at 600,000 per month!

Jerry:
My only intent here is to keep the membership informed on what is being presented in the mass media and whether it's either outright wrong or severly slanted as is the case with the Mexican gun smuggling. We all know were going to be in the fight of our lives to even preserve our hobby over the next four years and the important point is to NOT let the gun grabbers split us off into separate factions.

Cary:

I agree entirely with Keith, Jim, and others. There were quite a few anti-gun folks posting here back during the election cycle. p. mag/peter m. was just one of a number. You should go back and read some of that stuff. Nothing if not illuminating. They're not fellow enthusiasts, and they're not here to help us.

We're in the fight of our lives. If discussion of that issue isn't on point, then nothing else posted on this forum is.

Best,

Please: Let's keep the name calling out of this and just let the facts speak for themselves.

As an aside here I just finished writing My Congressman Harry Mitchell (D,AZ) and let hin know how "disappointed" I was that his name wasn't among those other 65 Congressmen who let the Obama administration know they'll not support another "Assault" weapons ban. I would highly recommend you all do the same.

Jim, Do you know where we could find the names of the 65 Congressmen who told Obama they won't support a new "assault" weapons ban. I would sure like to thank my Congressman if he did and chastise him if he didn't. Also, this is a good time to mention that a new revised definition of "Assault Weapon" is emerging. They are including magazine fed guns of any action type that are or can be converted to "high capacity". This would then include your bolt action 5-shot clip fed .22 if someone makes or can make a large capacity clip. Keith

Keith:
I have not been able to come up with a way to do a copy and paste here with just the list of names but here's a link to the letter and a listing of the 65 Congressmen is on pages 5-6.

Fellow forum members:
Please take the time to email your Congressman to thank them if their name is on this list. If there name isn't on the list let them know you're disappointed.
Jim

Thanks for doing the copy and paste Mike.

Fellow forum members.
The rest is in your hands as it only takes a few minutes to thank these people. Google up their name and you'll be able to find their Congressional email addresses.

Yes, thank you. My guys are on there so I will certainly let them know I appreciate their support for the Second Amendment. On a very related note, there was an interesting article on this subject on pg 11 of the Sunday, Apr. 5, 2009 Youngstown Vindicator by Matthew Mangino who was the former Lawrence Co., Pa. District Attorney. http://www.mattmangino.com He states that in 2008, there were 1600 murders in Juarez, Mexico, about 60% drug cartel related. The same year, there were 20 murders in El Paso, Texas, just across the border. This, a city of over 600,000 has nearly the lowest homicide rate of U.S. cities with 250,000 or more residents. So is the problem guns which are certainly available to U.S. residents in El Paso or crazy criminal elements in Mexico who certainly are arming themselves far cheaper at international arms bazaars than they could at an El Paso gun show? More to the point, if guns cause crime, do matches cause arson?
