I'd say the Hawkins pad with the heart shaped vents is the most sought after of all vintage recoil pads. There was a NOS original box of six on a SoldUSA auction a couple years ago and they brought an amazing amount of money.

There have been some original & used heart orange/red Hawkins on Ebay recently. I also saw (bought one) two original hearts in black. Keep an eye out. They do pop up from time to time.

Not that I've ever seen.

Market Hunter is right. The red Hawkins with the heart-shaped vents and the Jostom Anti-Flinch are likely the two most sought after vintage pads to "correctly" repad a vintage American gun. Carolina Sporting Arms had a bunch of Hawkins pads at The Vintage Cup, and supposedly had more. The story I've heard was that some employee kept a lot of the slightly blemished/disfigured rejects, and that is the source of these pads.

My 1949-vintage Model 31TC has a Pachmayr Trap Model recoil pad on it, but while perfectly fitted, I doubt it is original.

I just had two NIB Jostom pads on eBay recently, they both did well though the foam one did a lot better than the regular.

Just called the boys at Carolina Sporting Arms, they're completely sold out.

I picked up one of the heart Hawkins pads..NIB with screws and instructions..at a local gun show a couple years ago...end of box says its a model 25 for 16 and 20ga guns...that pretty much leaves your 12ga 31 out....but a used one should be relativly inexpensive, easier to find, as long as it is still big enough to have fit to your 31..
