I have no financial interest in this, just trying to help the guy drum up some shooters. Cost is $145 (lunch included), they're looking for 28 shooters, and are going to release 1000 birds. I was painfully forced to hit quote to read what you said since I did start this thread.
It's not a "pigeon shoot" it's a European tower style shoot where they're using pigeons instead of pheasants hence the words "tower shoot" in the topic line.
Plenty of places advertise tower shoots when it's pheasants, I don't see how it's any different using pigeons. This is not a "box bird" shoot in any way, shape, form, or fashion though I wish it was needless to say.

"A European tower style shoot" ?? Nope. The only things I have seen launched from towers over here and in the UK were clays. We use towers to practice for high driven birds. Personally, I find this much more challenging when a friend pulls for me, without warning, and various clay options. Shooting pigeons out of boxes would not do much for me. To each his/her own. K.

Again guys, it's not a "pigeon shoot" as the only money changing hands is to the guy running the event. There's no betting, no slide, no Calcutta, it's nothing like that. It's a tower shoot, just for fun. Well, not fun for the pigeons of course.....

When I said European I meant on the Continent, I know they don't do them in the UK. You boys have actual driven shooting which is far superior to tower shooting of course. But that's what tower shooting really is, an attempt to simulate driven bird shooting.

Joe- they are called squab in some circles. I've been an avid barn pigeon shootist since I was a knee-high lad with me 20 gauge Model 12- Old timer went through the Depression era- taught me to squeeze the rib cage- if it springs back, it's a young and tender bird-if not- into the dumpster it goes. My Dr. is a pigeon racer- I once brought him in a cigar box of bird bands from defunct pigeons I had shot one summer-apparently they have a code just like the Federal migratory leg bird bands- should be fun, and weather be damned--thanks for the post Destry-see you there--
