Check out the crazy prices on these guns...

$18,000 for a plain jane 20 boxlock that is probably out of proof (2 3/4" chambers)??

$14,000 for a shot out, sleeved Woodward?

$25,000 for an old, backaction, lapped-out Boss that is probably out of proof (.742 in one of the bores)??

Well, maybe we have reached that point in time where the one, "big fish" looks better than doing a reasonable, honest, worthwhile, and, most important, reputable business.

When I see Tom-foolery like that (a certain North-Eastern business that pretty much supports the entire "Gun Digest" staff with the amount of advertising they buy every month comes to mind, along with, "never had a screw turned" , or "Worlds outmost forfeiter", others) I consider it more than fair warning, and shop elsewhere.

You should, too. Or, not.
Best,
Ted

galazan has a real nice original back action boss for 4500.00.
seems to be original and not messed with. a beauty

Cabelas has two lower grade hollands, a grade B that is unrestored and they want 8K for it and then the NO.3, which is the same gun type of gun mentioned previous for 15K, but is "english restored". since when does that logic come into play, the restored guns always sell for less last i can remember.

I agree, even being a rare bird ( sidelever ) boss, it still should not be that overpriced!!!!LOL

People are looking for real value(tangible assets) for their money today - who knows what value it'll have tomorrow.

Coin finish must be the New equivilant to No case colors. I think these guys are selling a name and not the condition of the gun.

The free market allows any seller to put any price on his wares he wishes. It also allows any buyer to refuse to buy any good or service. Nobody makes anybody pay unreasonable prices. At some point, the seller must decide how long to keep stock (that costs him money) and when to take the best deal he can get. So, we wait and see.

Most Ass-Toot observations there Tedster. You might be referring to the Dick and Craig numbnutz of China beach-surprise , not R&R in The 'Nam, but in Maine-About two years ago-from their ad under Winchester Rifles in Gun Disgust- they had a 1933 M54 Super Grade in .270 listed. Being the perpetual wise-ass that I am, and also just a TAD wise in Winchesters (well, Model 12's and Model 70's) and armed with Rule's book which covers the M54 as well as the M70-I called- asked for the serial number and wondered where they got their date from- the SuperGrade appeared in late 1935 in the M54-then rolled over into the better M70-barrels were the same by the way-I have a SuperGrade M54 in .220 Swift cal. with the 26" stainless barrel-but have revamped it into a first series M70 with a Buehler 3 way safety and a Timney target grade trigger and a Mashburn forged steel floor plate for the magazine-I also see another idiot in Gun Disgust- some Executioner of fair gun deals in PA-what a crock- because I collect I can offer you "such a deal, already" Right-and Bernie Madoff is gonna return all the $ he scammed.
