Note that the Bbl Loosness which is of major importance is the fit of the bbls to the breech. A gun with a poor fitting forend may have loose bbls when broken open. This is undesirable, but not really of critical importance. A spring loaded forend which pulls the bbls forward thus takes up the slack between the hook & hinge pin & the gun "Appears" tight when open. Upon closing this same tension pulls the bbls away from the breech face thus accenuating any "Off-face" condition which might exist. Futhermore unless the hinge joint is kept squeeky clean & properly lubricated, the increased friction from the spring holding the hook into the pin can accenuate wear. Gimme A Deely anyday. Incidently Anson & Deely collaborated on a hammerless box lock action, the forend latch is Purely Deely, Anson had nothing to do with it, so it is not an A&D latch.
