Thomas Bland, 8 bore. made from a Harpoon gun. 15 lbs 9 oz. 28" barrel.
Had it done in the UK, thats a story in itself. more to follow

Also shown is a breech shot with a 458 in the chamber for scale.
another is a 32 S&W rook rifle for comparison.
The rifle is in otherwise original condition as you see it. The target is form the guy who did the work.

But it is only a single shot. How can you bag a pair in the air with just one shot? Guess you have to line them up in a row.

It is a fine looking hand cannon. Hope you are not prone to a flinch. That baby would make me flinch just dry firing it.

I guess after three shots a fellow might tend to loose his "focus" as witnessed by the last two shots!!!!!

Now that is a real"pumpkin roller"! Makes a Browning 50 look like a 30-06.
Thanks for the pics,

GregSY "Why the hole in the stock?"

That would be for a breeching rope, a common feature of shoulder guns that would also be fired from a stanchion or a punt (in the latter case the rope might lead through the stemblock of the boat). Basically it just helped with recoil.

As to recoil in a common or garden eight as opposed to something with the weight of a harpoon as payload, it's modest enough.

regards
Eug
