OK,
I'm about ready to undertake my first rust reblue on a set of Sauer barrels. What do I need to do about the screw holes in the bottom rib where the sling swivel attaches? I plan on leaving the sling swivel off after the reblue, as I don't personally care for them. I guess I can reinstall the screws without the swivel after the reblue (which wouldn't bother me too much) Also, there are three holes in the rib, two where the screws go, and a third in between them whose purpose is unknown. As boiling water kills rust, would it be best to boil them with the screw holes open and then try to make sure I have all the water out of the ribs to prevent future rust, or do I need to get the holes plugged up tight before boiling. It seems that if that is the way to go, I could use the screws on the two holes that are threaded, but what about the third hole? Thanks!
