hi ho mike,

read your post with interest... i agree..
documenting all guns and loads would be the wise thing to do.. unfortunatly, i didn't..

back in the days of the south coast gun club we shot 2 and 3 times a week for 25 or 30 yrs, rifle, pistol and shotgun.. and after they put up the lites to lite up the pistol and rifle range to 100 yrds. one of those days was 11am to 11 pm..

when you get there at 11am and hit that small bufflo silhouette at 440yds a couple dozen times in a row.. you say, now what will i do? i still have 11 and a half hours left.. so we experimented quite a bit.

after you got a gun shooting good with a certain load. the gun and ammo would be put away in the garage and we started another one or five guns all over again..

most of my shooting croonies that i did this with have 'left the range'. on more than a couple of occasions, went to thier houses and made 'safe' their ammo for the families..

as far as having someone knowledgeable handle this stuff. i don't know of any. most shooters i know of, shoot maybe, 2-3hrs once or twice a month. no one i know of shoots 20+ hrs a week. shooting that much you can learn alot.. especially about loading. you soon became a wizard with presses, scales, die's, casting, powders and etc..

know a few collectors that have more guns than i have, but, they don't shoot that much if at all.

BTW,
with south coast and san gabrial shut down.. where do you shoot. the only place left around here is where they had the '83' olympics. the longest range is 50m. the 'free pistol range'. ain't much, but, it is first class... there was a range in riverside starting up. but, i think the lawyers put a stop to that..

keep in touch and ..ttfn..grampa..
