greetings all,
read with interest the 4 page topic on the ruger #3. it made me remember i had loaded up some 45-70's with a solid bullet almost like a 458mag..
years ago i used these to get ruger 1 and 3's and shilo sharps to behave and shoot straight. it worked.. after three hot and i do mean hot rounds thru the bbl. they were hummers..
now back to the story, i remembered, i still had some of those loads in the 45-70 100 rd plastic load boxes. got to thinking. when i kick the bucket. little johns gun auction will come out with a truck pick up and auction all my stuff. at my age and health it's a possibility..
upon further thinking, i thought, what if a young buckaroo or anyone else with a trapdoor or a lever win or marlin bought those loads. those guns would come apart.. so... went out to the garage, (in ca we can do that) and pulled and dumped all loads that wern't safe in a trapdoor..
then got to thinking about all those 'HOT' 30-40 krags and 32-40's that were built for a hi-wall and pulled those..
now i felt semi good about myself.. then started to think about those contender loads that mite take a revolver apart. so... loaded up on conteners, 357, 41 and 44mag hot stuff went to the range and had the young buckaroo's shoot it up.. we had a good time..
now i feel good. all the ammo i have left is lo-ball safe..
if you have any 'hot' stuff, please make sure it doesen't get into the hands of some unknowing person..
