Those .410 slugs are puny, fragile little things, weighing less than 100 grains. A 44-40 with its standard 200 grain bullet is much better -- out of Winchester 92 a 44-40 with SAMMI spec 200 grain bullets at about 1200 fps will be closer in power to a 44 Mag from a revolver. I would much prefer a 32-20 or 32 H&R lever gun to .410 slugs. GunBlast has an article about .410 slug and buckshot loads vs 45 Colt in that Taurus revolver "The Judge".
