I know you don't aim a shotgun, but I saw a gadget that went in lthe barrel of a shotgun and had a wire that went to your trigger finger. The wire then made a connection that made a lazer in the barrel light up the spot where the gun was pointed.

It was somewhat unweildy and overpriced but I'm looking for information on it.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yes.

I have seen one out at the gun club. I have something like it that fits in the chamber.

I never got any meaningful information from them. Someone smarter (fairly common) may, but I didn't.

Best,

Mike

Dick,

This type of device have been around for a long time. Back in the 1900's Sears had one that they gave away to customers.

It's a device intended to allow you to practice following a line and pointing the shotgun at the target(indoors). MMC has written about them. My explanation was not very good but it is a practice aid, not for actually shooting.

They may be effective, maybe not. Definitely another gadget to separate the sporting clays crowd from some more money.

Go to http://www.arrowlasershot.com . This type fits in your choke. Stay away from lasers that mount in the shotgun chamber. They do not always put the laser where the shot will be going.

You can also get a good idea of where the shot will go by 'shouldering' the gun and placing your head such that your eyes are looking down the top portion of the barrels. Some of the top shooters even use one of the those signs that points to the muzzle and says 'bullets come out here'.

Overheard from one of the more(or less) astute shooters at the club " I only look at the target, I have no concept where the barrels are" and another one, "Don't stand there your in my peripheral hearing"

Thats It the Arrow Lasershot. I got a press release from Laserlite today and they have a similar device that picks up on the sound of the striker instead of the wire and ring. It sells for about half the price and isn't ready fot shotgun.

I thought it would make a great training aid.

Thanks again, guys

Arrow laser shot is marketed over there by the guy who does the Bore & Choke Vernier caliper.
Interestingly I noticed at a shot show here in the UK last weekend that you could use the Arrowlasershot to train yourself to mount and control your gun movement.Just down the Hall was a Swedish Video Trainer called the ST2 that for $42,000 showed you your poor gunmount and the line that you had taken to get onto (and miss in most cases)the bird.
The laser shot looked like good value after I had seen that.
