I came across a Weatherby Athena D'Italia SxS the other day. Just got a quick look at it as a fellow was picking it up from the dealer when I was there. It looked pretty nice. I guess they are made by Fausti in Italy. I've seen the ads for Fausti highlighting the 3 Fausti sisters. Just wondering if anyone out there owns one (Athena or Orion) or has handled one and has any opinions on quality, handling, etc.

I can't help, Captain. The guns may be great but I don't think Fausti or its ad agency did the company any favours with the three sisters. It's kitsch. The great gunmakers don't do it.

Look at a picture of John M. Browning, now keep that fresh in your mind. Now look at the Fausti sisters pictures keep that in your mind. If you think John Moses Browning, who was one of the most famous firearms designers is better, time to get the glasses changed.

I think the Fausti Sisters are doing a great job promoting Fausti de Stefano shotguns. Fausti has been in the shadows for years, mfg "less expensive" shotguns for others to put their name on and sell. Now, I see Fausti improving their shotguns, promoting and selling them under the Fausti name, while still mfg some models for other companies to sell. They are making some fine shotguns, like the DEA. The "Sisters" promotion is working and raising awareness of Fausti de Stefano. As long as they continue to improve & upgrade their shotguns they will be a force to recon with.

I can't confirm this, but I heard they were going to display at the Southern Side by Side Classic at Deep River Sporting in N.C. at the end of April.
I hope so because I plan to be there.

One of my friends hunts big game. He says there is nothing dumber than a male mammal that thinks he is going to get laid. So if I were 30 years younger and interested in a modern SxS I might think "Hey! I will get one of those Fausti side by sides, and who knows, maybe I will run into one of those Fausti chicks while I am out hunting. And maybe she will be so delighted that I am shooting her gun she will want to shoot mine!" Best, Mike
