Quote "Much more effective and less divisive than trying to convert the Sensible-Gun-Control advocates on this board I believe."
"Sensible Gun Control" advocates coming on to a gun board is the same as someone coming into your home and spitting on the floor. If their truly for "Sensible Gun Control" let them go over to Handgun Control Inc. with the rest of their ilk. Jim
The 2nd Amendment IS an unalienable right.

My second question has not been addressed. What do you , Obama supporters, consider to be sensible gun controls; over and above what we already have. No name claling , no left vs. right. I just want to know what your perspective is on "reasonable controls". I will make it easy, give me one new "sensible gun control" you would support and what it would achieve.

Two comments: I owned a home and lived at least half time in Mulege, Baja California Sur, for over 20 years. I drove the Baja Hiway Hundreds of times. If the Mexican Government wanted to stop the flow of guns (if indeed there is one) it would be pretty easy. There are and have been for many years, Federal checkpoints all along that Hiway. Three permanent, and many times as many as 6-7 more. At each checkpoint you are stopped, your vehicle may be searched, and your papers may be checked. SELDOM is a vehicle with Mexican plates stopped and checked. Amarillo Mikes points are well taken ( he always was a bright child) Support the NRA, and let your elected officals know that that they will lose their jobs in the next election...

Is anyone surprised that Hope and Change during the election process was never anything specific or something you could understand. From his first day in office and seemingly everday since up pops massively detailed plans on what his hope and change is all about. How did all these details come together so quickly? The folks who bought the hype bought the emotion and rhetoric of the guy, never believing he had his own agenda once he got in office. Today, he put it back in the voter's face that he was given a blank check to do as he wished. Your vote for him was for trust, not substance. Few of us are suprised at this. Bashing "W"? All because his critics think that a lack of verbal eloquence equals some IQ equivelence. Can BO fly a fighter jet?? "W" can. Can't wait to find out what tomorrow reveals. Randy

Words right on target Brian- sensible gun control is an oxymoron-let's 'field strip" that word, and see what we get- oxy or ox- a slow dull plodder- moron or moronic- self explanatory- Other similar oxymorons might be "Gentle and kind rapist", "Well mannered airplane hi-jacker" etc...
No gun control legislation squares with the Second Amendment- our Founding Fathers wisely did not write: "The Freedom to bear arms, "as long as those arms are non-conceal-able, have 36" minimun barrel length and have to be singly reloaded from the muzzle"-. What we need is a "Workshop" for the antis- hold it in Phoenix AZ without any security at the Convention Center, and put the word on the mean streets of Juarez and other that the "Brady-Bunch" gang that wants to dis-arm the drug cartels is in town- Wait until Dianne Feinstein is in her "jammies" in her room putting on her make-up, and three bad dudes from the set of "No Country For Old Men" come bustin' in with AK-47's shouting "Venga con nosotros Puta"- and see what happens to the Antis-
I forgot, like Hollywood hero Bob DeNiro- Ms.Feinstein "carries"-but she also is a George Orwell reader- "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"- She can carry, but those of us "common folk" aren't to be trusted with ownership of weapons- As the only straight guy I ever respected from Hollywood once said so well "From My Cold Dead Hands".

What we need to do is stop talking about the last election, the results are in there's nothing more that can be done about it, and start doing something about the next election... a few more republicans in the Senate I believe in 2010.

The AWB would seem to be stillborn, without Reid and Pelosi on board. I doubt either of these two are smart enough to look back at what happened last time, but, I'm guessing their handler's might be. Best, Ted

Here is the Antis logic; " the second amendment was written when there were muskets, the framers never intended it to include assualt weapons, automatic weapons etc". See, so you really arent supposed ot have those.
Okay, lets apply their logic to the 1st Amendment: there was only the press as in written word and books; the TV, Radio, computer, internet etc were not invented then and they would never have envisioned what is on those media now and never intended for free speech to go that far...... I bet the NYT and their ilk would not stand for that. Funny how the Antis champion the right of free speech at all costs.
Treblig, If we ignor our past we are doomed to repeat it. While we must look to the future to seek solutiuons, we must remember the past to inspire us to seek these changes.
Just as we dont show what the terrosists did on 911 on TV anymore. And schools dont show the video of what our enemies did, not it is all but forgotten. Dont say it isnt. we push those unpleasant things to the back and ignor them. when was the last 911 anniversary special you saw on TV where they showed the planes impacting. Too graphic they say. BullS@#$!!!! hell, most Americans have almost forgotten we are at war. Most think we are doing counter terrorism.
We cannot forget what happened and we must move forward at the same time. Ignoring the past does not change the fact that it happened; taking what happened and learning from it will help us in the future.

Will S...I e-mailed you an answer to your post. But in case you don't get it; I include that e-mail here:
Read with interest your post on the Doublegun Forum.......A few thoughts in rebuttal: "name calling and aspersions cast toward the "Left" " This is because the 'Left' start each debate, from an indefensible (and contemptible) position. And I'll cite a few examples before you arise in protest....... The Left would close Club Gitmo, thus providing succor and hope to terrorists whom should be killed. Yet the Left will fight tenaciously for the right to kill unborn babies....... The Left will rabidly defend their 1st Amendment rights; but gleefully trash my 2nd Amendment rights.....The Left will work to put me in jail should I get caught defending my home and family against a criminal; but will let the criminal go free........ the Left will vow to bring our troops home from Iraq, but will send 17,000 new troops to Afghanistan.......the Left would ban prayer in schools...... The Left would perpetuate the fallacy of manmade global warming.......The Left would admonish me for not sharing my hard-earned money with freeloaders who decline to work for theirs. The Left would promise us "no earmarks"; then ram through bills with billions of dollars of earmarks...... The Left would try to blame George Bush for our economic woes; when in reality, the money market, and real estate policies of the Left during the Clinton years are wholly responsible.........Matter-of-fact it is impossible to discuss hardly any subject with a Liberal, without "casting aspersions"! "It's nice to have a president who can speak in complete sentences." Adolph Hitler was one of the most articulate, and riveting speakers in the history of mankind.........and you know how that turned out. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a magnificent speaker, but it took us decades to recover from his policies. "If you listened to him on tuesday, what more do you need to know"? I need to know how my descendants are going to pay for all of the obscene spending proposals...... "Sensible gun control" All depends on your point of view........I think double-barreled shotguns are ugly, and are not very sensible for home protection. While I think 'black rifles' are beautiful, and superb tools for home protection. "Why would any of you have voted for two terms of George Bush?" The reasons are manifest........... No more 911s....Booming economy.......Low unemployment.....Decency returned to government......Christian values adhered to......2nd Amendment Rights reestablished, (Assault Weapons Ban allowed to sunset). Refusal to allow subservience to a world government.....Decline to "set down" with terrorists.......Crammed even more terrorists into Club Gitmo.....Spanked The United Nations; perhaps the most corrupt, useless, clusterf**k in the known universe...... A lot more, but am getting short of breath....... "The mindlessness of......." The mindlessness of Obama supporters is breath-taking....... I seemed to detect a note of anger in your post to the forum........ I would answer that anger with a favorite quote of mine......"If you want to anger a conservative, lie to him....If you want to anger a Liberal, tell him the truth". And I would close with a bit of advice.........In the future; embark upon the battlefield of political wit with considerable trepidation..........as you seem virtually unarmed......... I key rather slow; and hunched over my keyboard for over an hour to pen this e-mail........I'm lots more articulate, and intelligent, and more difficult to debate on the phone.........Should you desire to really be put in your place; call me........My cell: 507-273-9867 Thanks for listening, Grant Marquardt Elgin, MN.
