I have been buying unboxed paper shells of various gauges, 16, 20 and now some 12 ga. In addition to about 175 loose shells, the guy had this unopened case of Remington 7 1/2 trap loads, from 1947. The case has never been opened and is stamped on the outside end "Slightly Imperfect". When I pried the top open, it is full and complete with Shur Shot 7 1/2 Trap loads, in plain paper boxes that are date stamped Oct 31, 1947 and the words Slightly Imperfect. The owner indicated that these were shells with crimps that were bulged or otherwise not perfect and they were sold at a discount to store owners for prospective buyers to be able to test the gun before buying.
Has anyone ever seen these before? If I buy them, my plan was to shoot them in my old doubles. Is there any collector value or should I just shoot them up?
He wants $150 for the case. I figure the case is worth $30-40 which makes the shells $5.50-6.00/box.
What do you think?
