My friends, I think we all know good, smart, successful people who are democrats. We probably tried to convince them before the election that Obama was not good for the country.

But because these good people were dropped on their heads as babies, they are lifelong democrats, and no amount of logic or persuasion will change them.

My wife of 23 years, a physician, medical school professor, and wonderful mother... was dropped on her head. My best friend in the world, close buddies since freshman year of high school in 1974, a very successful businessman, excellent husband and father, yup...dropped on his head. We will not change these folk's minds, nor will they change ours.

See you all at the Second Amendment March, we can meet under the DoubleGunShop banner.

Yeti, if I can I'll be there too!

The whole AG Holder's empathy issue towards mexicans is the classical case of a "sell the sofa" solution.

What takes your breath away, is how we've been tossed into the furnace of hell for change. I only hope, that the people for change are the first to feed those fires.

Unfortunately the plans of the Socialists wealthy to entitle the lower classes will be paid for as usual by the middle class.

Will S....

With all due respect, you need to take your head out of the sand. There is no such thing as "sensible gun laws"

I no longer bowhunt. But I would be first in line to defend their right to hunt that way. By saying that it is okay to ban "assault weapons" or handguns, you are saying that it is okay to give up some personal freedoms. No thank you. By giving the socialists, and that is EXACTLY what anyone who voted for "the anoited one" is little victories, it will only encourage them to go further. Make no mistake, the long term agenda is NO GUNS.

Change we can believe in? Yes we can! Back off and no thank you.

I did not serve my country for 20 years in the Navy and another 10 in Federal service to live in a country like France.

We all need to work hard towards the mid-term elections and then take back the White House in 2012 to minimize the damage.

I voted for Obama. He's articulate and intelligent, something sadly lacking in the previous eight years. It's nice to have a President who can speak in complete sentences.
If you listened to him on Tuesday in his address to Congress and the American people, what more do you need to know?

The problem with Obama and other liberal Democrats isn't a lack of intelligence. It is an overestimation of their own intelligence and ability vs. the population and their belief that they can use government to accomplish anything they wish. It certainly sound good when he says how "we" are going to do this and that. How He's going to cut the deficit in half after doubling it??? How "the rich" who pay 80% of the taxes should pay more while the poor and some middle income should receive payments from the government despite paying no federal income taxes at all. How the Constitution is "open to interpretation" to the degree that it's meaningless - whether that be assigning a seat in Congress to an area that isn't a state, manipulating the upcoming census or limiting our individual right to keep and bear arms.

His scripted speaking ability is very good - it certainly hooked you. I don't think it should be necessary to highlight the fact that some of the best oratory of the last century came from intelligent and sometimes well meaning men who did more damage to humanity that any others in the history of the world.

Obama's plans are pushing toward the tipping point discussed below by Fred Smith, CEO of FedEx:

"We're now at a point where a very large part of the population pays no federal income tax at all. When you have a majority of the population that realizes that you can transfer money from the productive to themselves, that's one of the great questions for the future of civilization, as far as I'm concerned."

The middle class Obama supporters are not horrified by this....yet.

So what he voted for Obama and there are others that have expressed themselves as more than one issue voters... maybe they had other reasons. And alot of people voted for him not by any means a landslide but it wasn't close either.
A President is one cog in a giant wheel and a good experienced Senate majority leader can blunt even the best of intensions of a President.
Look no further back than Tom Daschle(?) and how he blunted GW Bush for the first two years of his Presidency. President Bush wanted the taxes lowered, Daschle wouldn't allow it out of committee or wouldn't allow the bill onto the Senate floor or something along those lines.
President Obama keeps this up he is going to get a Republican senate and that may come as early as 2010.

I sincerely doubt either side of this discussion is going to convert the other. I suggest the Gun Freedom Advocates make a contribution to the NRA lobbying fund:

https://secure.nraila.org/Contribute.aspx

You can instantly make a contribution on their website with a credit card. I did.

And review the NRA legislator ratings. This rates politicians and derates politicians for Second Amendment support. You can then make contributions of time and money accordingly:

https://www.nrapvf.org/Elections/Default.aspx

I did.

Much more effective and less divisive than trying to convert the Sensible-Gun-Control advocates on this board I believe.

Best,

Mike
