Kevin, I didn't and regret it. It is a beautiful country, there's a lot to see and plenty of shopping. Also, there can be a lot of down time for the shooters if the drive to the shooting grounds isn't long. If you go in their summer months you'll find yourself lounging around a swimming pool for hours during mid-day. Mike and I went to Estancia los Chanares, north of Cordoba. All the shooting was on the ranch property so maximum driving time was fifteen minutes, usually less. Very comfortable accomodations for wives and very civil guests (one wife was there and she thoroughly enjoyed herself). If you do take her I'd suggest a night in Santiago on the way down. The Andes, which you'll fly over, are a remarkable sight. Good luck!

I've been to Argentina for doves. I know that Uruguay also has some good places, but there's no point on going there for doves only, unless you want to combine with ducks, pigeons and perdiz. If interested in Uruguay you might try to get a copy of " the best wingshooting in Uruguay".
For doves, Cordoba is your place, and there are a lot of options with different outfitters. They all offer more or less the same program, and prices vary considerably due to accommodations, overall quality of service etc.
Be wary of the low end of the thing...If it's priced lower than most, be suspicious.
By all means take your guns, it's trouble free, and you'll enjoy them a lot!
My only advise would be regarding the gauge. There's absolutely no use for a 12 gauge in a SA dove hunt. Take a 20 or even better a 28.
Same applies to your wife, no problem whatsoever on taking her with you, but just be sure that she will be ok staying in the middle of nowhere for a few days, shooting and talking about it all day long.
BA is great for 2 or 3 days, and she will enjoy it for sure.
As mentioned above, I usually go in June-July to combine with ducks and perdiz.
Like Joe Wood, I've stayed a couple of times in Los Chanares and can only say good things about it.

I booked a combination dove shoot/flyfishing trip through Frontiers. They are pricier than many, but service was superb. They handled all gun issues, transportation, etc. First rate. A 12 bore will wear you out! I shot a 30" Beretta Siver Pigeon 20 ga. with a Pachmeyer Clays pad, and had no troubles. ditto for the others in my group, one who shot a M21, and one a Browning A5(!), both in 20 ga. Local shells (Fiocchi) were fine - clean and reliable. Take an extra day or two in BA. Great food and great red wine (tinto).
Enjoy!
