It seems to me that some of the earliest laser checkering was rather burned, but I haven't seen that in my guns or the ones my friends have received. Learning curve? There was a time in my youth when some custom stockers were putting stain in checkering to darken it and set it off from the wood of the stocks.

Thanks for the reply Researcher. Is the checkering dark at all, or can the figure of the wood be seen underneath the checkering?

IM,
I ordered 4X and was not concerned about the checkering. I've watched the RBL series for a few years to include finished guns offered by CSMC and photos and personal examination of those privately owned. As Researched stated, problems must have been on early guns.

I've got a fairly early 20 Launch Edition and a 28. The 28 is a two barrel set with splinter and beavertail forends. On both guns, and including the grip and the forends, the figure of the wood can clearly be seen under the checkering. Stanley
