I pretty much just want to know whatever you can tell me about them. I found one for what I think is a good price but I know nothing about them.

Thanks in advance for any help,
C.S.

Hi C.S. They are made in Serbia. While I never owned one, a friend of mine has one. I've handled it abut never shot it. Here's my take - Crude. Fit and finish are fair, lost of proud wood and I mean proud in some areas, bluing was ok not polished. lots of file marks on the inards, wood plain with lots of open pores, heavy for the gauge (his was), did not handle or balance very well. A cut below the Remington SPR series of doubles.

This is my observation on one gun, but this one was a dog IMHO.

You'd be much better served by looking at something else, my opinion.

Good Luck!

All the best!

Greg

Carolina,
The current production is basicaly what Greg said, but some older Zastava doubles were rather nice, especialy the first model from the 1950s.
Kind regards,
Jani

Thanks y'all,

That's pretty much what I figured. The one's I saw were older models in the $150-$180 range in 12 and 16ga. If I was to get one it would be for Cowboy Action and the barrel would be cut to about 18-20" and probably handled kinda rough too. Do you think they are built sturdy enough to take that?

Thanks again,
C.S.

Hi C.S. Why don't you go for something like this as an example:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=122455352

This model is ready to go out of the box. Better fit and finish, plus parts are avalible as well as a warranty thru Remington. May cost more, but IMO a better gun.

Also, when you cut bbls on a SxS, you may have problems with the bbl regulation and POI. Something to consider.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

All the best!

Greg

If you're looking for stubby barrels, you may want to check out
CZ. They have ready-made "coach guns".

i had one in 16 gauge and it was an outstanding gun. better finished internally and externally than anything in the price range ($200) you can get, apparently good materials, balanced very well, weighed a little over 7# if i remember right (and if you can't handle a 7-7.5# shotgun you need to get some exercise). functioned fine, good trigger pulls, fit well, better quality than any of the 311 class guns and far lighter than a savage/fox. the only negative at all to this gun was the chokes which were full+ and evenfuller.

and the 16 i had was apparently not built on a 12 gauge frame. it was just the right size for a 16. i'd buy another one in a blink.
