An update...I was able to get my hands on some new unfired shells...and wala...it works just fine...gun closes nicely with no extra effort...seems both cheap snap-caps and once-fired shells both have issues.... time will tell... I plan to shoot it a bit...if I have problems down the road I will send it to SKB!
