I am entering into the wonderful world of British 10 bore fowlers and I would like to know what your favorite 10 bore load recipes are. I plan on shooting a mix of both RST's and my own home rolled loads. I am looking for either 1 1/8 oz or even 1 1/4 oz loads, low pressure, I would like to stick with fibre wads and overshot cards with a roll crimp...suggestions on hull types, tools that will help, and any tips would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any of the Sherman Bell loads for the 10 gauge written down and has experience using them, I would love to hear from you.

Here's some that were posted earlier. I've never used them my 10 was cut to 3 & 1/2" and reproofed for 4 tons Nitro. I use a 3 & 1/2" 1 & 5/8 oz. load out of the Lyman manual, 8500 psi, it chronographs 1290 fps in my 10.

These Brit 10 bores are cool.....and for some reason, they can be bought at pretty reasonable prices still, I wonder how much longer that will last?

I add usefull stuff all the time some guys are just too smart to see it.

One of my favorite 2-7/8" 10 gauge loads is 3-1/4 drams (90 grains) FFg with 1-1/4 oz of shot and whatever fiber wads fill the case for a decent crimp, preferably rolled 'cause they look right.

Nice and smokey, too. Usually Federal plastic hulls take 2-3 firings with this load before they melt through.

Assuming you are actually planning on using this "Fowler" for it's intended purpose "Out in the Cold" PLEASE don't take any 7625 or 4756 or any other similar slow burning powders at pressures less than about 8K psi unless you carry a ramroad with you to punch out the stuck wads & then pray you don't get one of those phenomenal secondary ignition catastrophies which takes a chunk out the side of the bbl down ahead of the chamber somwhere. Much better to load a sensible load with a med-fast powder up in the 7-8K psi range & enjoy it to the fullest. Restrict sub 7K pressures to mild loads using fast powders.

I used 7625 and 4756 here in NH and it was plenty cold this season with no problems. Temps some days in the single digits.
LeFusil do you have info to make shell trimmer?

Just heard that RST is working on an 1 3/8 10 gauge shell in the 2 7/8 length that's loaded with the new NiceShot. From what Morris told me, they've had good pressure reports and are planning on bringing them to market soon. This one should be sure death on geese, I can't wait to give them a try.
