Many times in the past I've tried to pry these two apart when they lock horns. I've done given up. Now I just sit back and watch the show.

Destry, US/Canada relations are just fine, always have been except for the usual squawks between closest neighbours and friends. I don't think you would treat this differently from me if a retired Canadian colonel told you what you could say about Canada on this board. For a guy who came all the way here to solicit my PGCA dues at point of a 10ga Parker DH I doubt your language would be as considered as mine!

I'm not telling anybody what they can say, I'm just trying to get folks to focus on the problem that created the thread in the first place.
And it's only a GH sadly, but I've got a D grade hammer gun at least. I gotta get back up there, I hear you've not been paying.....

We were talking about Lead Shot bans, right? Most of us here breathed a lot of lead from the tetraethyl lead that was in gasoline and vaporized in tailpipe emissions. We drank from water systems piped in lead or at least lead soldered. We handled lead pellets and bullets and carried pockets full of lead .22's. Many of us shot thousands of rounds in poorly vented indoor ranges. The older members here spent hours playing with lead soldiers as kids. We ought to be dead or severely brain damaged. But we're not. Now we are told that a dove in a 50 acre field with a #8 pellet in it's gizzard is an environmental disaster. It is back-door Gun Control and if you allow it to happen without a fight, you deserve the much higher non-lead ammo prices and much reduced values of your doubles that will follow. I choose to not be fooled.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

Keith, Very well said, my sentiments entirely. So don't roll over and accept this ban in Washington, give THEM the facts, start to stand up for your rights and defend your sport.

King, once more, I'm not the one who started the whole mess by taking a cheap shot at anyone else's COUNTRY. Salopian commented about our "rolling over" on lead, then added stuff about how we pollute, etc. My only response was in regards to British GUN LAWS; nothing else about the UK. But it certainly got you all in a huff.
And how gracious of you to state that the intelligence business is an honorable profession, even if you apparently don't understand the difference between the CIA and the military. Perhaps you're thinking back to the old Intrepid days, when he was running black ops against the Americans to try to get us into the war--like a phony map, which was a BSC (British Security Coordination) creation, of how the Nazis planned to carve up South America after they won the war. No knock on Intrepid--he was just doing his job. But it's since come out that that was one error his biographer (assuming you're speaking of "A Man Called Intrepid") made in that book. ("This map was taken from a German agent . . . ") Back then, the OSS was military. CIA was not, and is not. Oh well . . . feel free to take more cheap shots at this country, King. Just don't whine when I respond in kind. Makes me think you're made of lesser stuff than men like Intrepid.

EVERY time this issue comes up, it goes the same way. People get windy about science, politics, nationalities, and try to imprees the world with what they know about things that have little to do with the lead shot bans. WHEN lead shot is banned, the blame will lie right here among us. I asked, some time ago for some people to volunteer as a "watch" group here in the plains states (Iowa included) and to help draft an exemption wording for older guns. The response was underwhelming-zero.

Destry, I knew your deadly riposte was coming and put dues in hard US dollars in envelope and yesterday mailed to: Tom Carter. PGCA, 2429 Choppee Road, Georgetown, SC 29440-7381
the address here for those who may want to make a quick join-up to a wonderful board. I won't pay next year to tease another visit from you here.
