Kevin Costner shot buffalo from horseback on the run at what appeared to be a few hundred yards with a Henry, which unless my memory has totally departed was always made in the rather anemic .44 Henry Rimfire Flat. Kevin and the movie makers couldn't possibly have misinterpreted history for the benefit of entertainment - could they?! Seriously, I concur with your assessment of the 45-70. It is not a round to be scoffed at. I have one of the Pedersoli double rifles in this caliber that I intend to hunt hogs with next year in easter NM and west Texas.
