Don - can I "inherit" your Ruger No3 in 30-40 - I promise not to mount a Mt. Palmer Observatory type Scope on it ?

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.

No better home for them than you, Walt.

This is an outstanding suggestion. One that we all should follow.

Walt's story is another reason why these old guns, that have served their previous owners so well, should never be altered from their glory by the new caretakers. It makes my blood run cold that so many "new generation" hunters/shooters can't wait to alter an old gun and make it into something that it was never meant to be. They need to acquire a new gun to meet todays needs and built a history for it that can be passed along.
JMO and rant.

That's a beautiful gun, Walt.

Funny you say that, I see alot of old guns that were altered from their original specs by alot of "old generation hunters and shooters". Lots of old guns out there Don with hacked up barrels, self honed chokes, carved stocks, shortened stocks, poly chokes, Cutts compensators, nails and wire holding the stocks together, etc....all done way before I was born (1974).

Very nice gun Walt, I couldnt think of a better "new" owner for that sweetie than you. I also like D. Amos's suggestion of documentation of guns. Everything is worth more when its story can be told.

Dustin

I am going to be sixty tomorrow. Are we becoming sentimental old fools?

I gottcha by two years on the wrong side, JayCee. Sentimental, yes. Old of body, yes, old of mind, no. Fools, never!!!

There must always be a place for sentiment. Otherwise, the world becomes a very harsh place; one with no history. History has a lot of free lessons if we are willing to expose our sentiment and learn.
