LeFusil-
That's about what it costs to have it done right.
It's that simple.
You can pay less, but I can almost guarantee you that it will not be done right. And the differences are real, very real.
From what I've seen, Americans do great work. But for the most part, best-grade English sidelocks are not their thing.
BTW: I'm going to pass on the Scott. The price is $9gs.
If anyone is interested, drop me an email and I'll put you in touch with the seller.
If anyone wants the gun fully inspected, assessed, and measured, I can arrange to have it done for you.

OWD, thats your opinion and my opinion of your opinion is.....that your opinion is boloney.

I write in jest of course.

If thats what you think it takes for a "best grade english sidelock" to be stocked "properly" then you pays the stocker to get the "warm fuzzies" and be happy.
I would like to know what the subtle but real, "very real", differences are when it comes to stocking a best grade English sidelock, c'mon now, we arent re-inventing the wheel here, a best grade english sidelock is not a mythical beast with secrects locked away, your being too romantic about this.... or you've been bushwacked by a slick talking salesman somewhere along the road. Have you talked to an American stockmaker, have they ever told you that best grade english sidelocks are "not their thing"?? I've never heard that, and I've seen best grade english sidelocks stocked by some of the best in America that would make any "gun guy" weep.
9g's for that Scott huh? Wow. Its a nice gun, but that stock is just ridiculous.
