The fact that is a original makes it perfectly acceptable to me. Certainly not my optimum stock configuration but I would not be ashamed to be seen with it.

Is it for sale?

How much?

Best,

Mike

Compared to some of the people here I have not seen a fraction of the number of guns they have, but I've not seen a gold escutcheon behind a safety before.

I have a Premier Imperial with the Escutcheon located there and I just got email pictures of a friend's recently purchased Scott with the Escutcheon located there. I think it is odd too but apparently standard.

OWD I repeat, if you don't want it I am very interested.

Best,

Mike

Considering the grade and condition; if the price was reasonable one could have it restocked and retain the original stock. Nothing is really lost and the gun can always be put back into it's original configuration should someone wish to do so in the future.

I just don't see it as ugly. If it had been restocked I might do something with the stock.

To have it restocked to the same level of workmanship and finish it would have to be $6,000 or more. That number makes the original stock look much prettier.

Buy it, shoot it, leave it as is.

Model 21s with 26" barrels sell at a big discount. When I have one in my hands it feels and looks great. I say it is the same with this gun. It should be discounted some amount but it is very desirable at the discounted price.

Best,

Mike

Even with the stock it's still prettier than any French gun...

I think the Escutcheon location was standard on all Premier grade Scotts.

I'm with Mike on this one!! I'd never even consider restocking that gun. If it has good shootable dimensions then "Pretty is as pretty does!"

C'mon, c'mon, I'm following this thread to hear approximately what such a gun costs, and I don't want to die knowing someone let a good one slip away.

I'd never pay what I imagine is a high price because I have too many guns and my buddies would look sideways at me.

And any gun that doesn't fit has no place in my rack, no matter what price and how good a deal.

I still think that stock is the equivelent to putting tail fins on a Duesenberg but I keep looking at this thread and hoping to see the asking price as well.
