Thanks for the responses.
I hate to be a spoiler, but I can't talk about the price - at least not now. I know, you're thinking "What a jerk!" Sorry.
Restocking it right is going to run $5000+. Turning it into a straight grip will cost even more, probably $7000+.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Amarillo - lets see your Imperial! I'm envious.
And yeah, the gold shield is original. Every Premier I've seen has had one there.

I still think that stock is the equivelent to putting tail fins on a Duesenberg but I keep looking at this thread and hoping to see the asking price as well. Jim I argue that if Duesenberg put the tailfins on during manufacture then all is as it should be and no big deal. If George's Body Shop and Liquor Store did it that is another thing. Best, Mike
I am glad to be here.

Get a 300-400 dollar blank find someone with a Hoenig pantograph to do the inletting and do the shaping yourself and out source the final finishing and checkering.I see no reason why stocking is so costly especially when you have a really good original stock to copy measurements from. The inletting is the hard part and the Hoenig pantograph ,will make you a one to one copy .the straight grip guard is about 400 or so and then the engraving or you could leave it plain and just have it as your user.

Ken isn't that the Scott on Griffin & Howes website ? It's a nice old Tri-plex Lever grip Premier built about 1887.
Refinished in non-original case...not Scotts most desirable side lock, black powder proofs....I suspect at the asking price it will be there till some pigeon flies by.

The gun is a nice example of what is was built to be - a trap shooting gun.
Leave it alone so someone looking for this can get a nice example. There are plenty of good conventional game guns to be had. Re-stocking a sound gun will rarely be cost effective.
