self-flagellating ever since

I believe it was $5000, unfortunately, at the time, my wallet was also not fully evolved. Sometimes you only get one kick at the cat...

just a humble suggestion but you being from state of tn why not go with holland & holland 'royal' ejector gun. you would not want local folk to think you're shooting HUGO BOSS would you? h&h has more english sounding ring to it which local mateys would appreciate, no?

A friend of mine is a gun trader par excellence and had worked his way up to a killer Fabbri over/under engraved by Galeazzi. He was a construction superintendent and worked all over the country and was in Amarillo for a few months on a project. He came out to the local gun club and pulled out the Fabbri and started shooting. One of the regulars struck up a conversation with him and said "Wow! That is a great looking gun - is it a Weatherby?" Crestfallen he replied that it was a Fabbri. "Really, that gun could pass for a Weatherby."

Best,

Mike

Got one. Love it. I also have a Purdey. I wish to complete the trinity.

I can also identify with the construction guy. I have lots of friends that I have duck hunted with that say, when they see me using an old Parker or such classic, "Son, you need something that can shoot steel, Here! use my Benelli"

that is splendid piece with solid name behind it. purdey is tricky name too. we have board member named homelessjoe who used to talk about PURDY all the time. when i went to get some dessicant for my walkin closets at local homedepot paint department i was shocked to find out that purdy brushes were not made in london england! while on my way to the beretta gallery i also seen purdy optical shop on lexington ave in nyc. dang it, there are too many purdys out there! i would say holland & holland is safest bet.
