How about a picture of that action Charlie. I have never seen it and cannot help with information but I would like to see it if possible.

I can't help with information either, but I'd certainly like to see some photographs of that action. You never know, someone may come up with a suggestion as to what to make out of it.

My camera has a bad case of don't-work-itis, but I'll see if I can borrow one and get something on line for you guys. I'm still thinking the name was "Alleghany" or "Adirondack" or some such Eastern Mountain-sounding name. It is totally unmarked (not even a serial number???) and is non-functional because the trigger linkage doesn't fully connect with the striker... I can make the striker drop with a little manual fiddling, but pulling the trigger misses the sear. I do like the steel lever under the trigger guard better than the execution of the same design on the Ruger, but I can see where old Bill got the idea!

Froggie, I'd love to see pix of either or both. Did the Peregrine get made into a rifle?

And I would sure love to see quality High Wall actions with interchangeable parts, but I'm with Hunter on this, and am not getting the feeling these folks understand the importances such as 8620 v. 4140.

Steven, the Peregrine came to me as a complete rifle... Douglas barrel and a show grade piece of walnut in full bench rest style. The caliber is .32-357 (also referred to as ".32 Dell" although he never liked that. I know of at least 4 others being actively campaigned in the schuetzen game and have been in correspondence with a guy who is collecting information on them to write a book or pamphlet.

Stand by for the pix, I'll see if I can borrow the camera I gave my parents last Christmas.

OK, I have a couple of pix of the mystery action, but I don't know how to attach it. Anybody got any suggestions? It's in a JPEG format and I've cut it down in size to about 249 KB. All help appreciated.

Here is the mystery action. Pretty blocky looking but I bet Steve could clean it up to something interesting.

It looks very heavy with all that internal steel. But perhaps that's an illusion.

Yeah Brent, give old Steve a file and he'll whittle it down to a light weight that is a joy to look at.

If it were a knife we would call it a full width tang design, I took another picture from above and will send it to Brent for posting in a few minutes. Thanks, Brent for posting that one and TIA for posting another.

Two questions:
1) Anybody see anything familiar here?
2) Should we start a separate thread from this for the topic of this action? It sure isn't a high-wall!
