My J P Sauer & Son/VL&D Knockabout (also missing forend) has a doll's head rather than cross bolt, A simple rib on tumbler axle for cocking indicator & is no where near so profusely engraved. Cheek piece is leather over some substance which appears to probably be cork. SN is in the 87,xxx range, don't recall exactly without looking, & from the chart published in DGJ would date to about 1901. This is a back action sidelock with plates resembling a bar action.
30" Krupp bbls with a wt of about 7½lbs & 2 3/4" chambers, marked 70 on extractor face. No smokeless proofs, which indicate pre 1912 for sure.
