The "restoration is so so", disregarding the following:

The barrel I believe has been cut (not even a square cut) and a screw choke added. I could see no evidence of it being sleeved. The bottom rib is lifting also.

But come on 3K for this redo ???

Interesting with the rib broken away like that at the muzzle. There's a faint sleeve joint evident on the left barrel in the center picture. It also looks like an open gap where the barrel meets the breech face. Good thing their prices are negotiable.

A screw in choke, on that gun, is just wrong. The loose rib, poorly done work in general, is just wrong. Good thing Cabelas has such trained gun buyer and sellers that they can spot problems like this and price them fairly. Looks like a Maaco paint job, over dirt, on a beater car. Did I mention, just wrong.

From practical point one would be buying single shot 20ga with choke tubes for 3k. The rifle barrel is next to useless unless hombre wants to store Otis clearing wire in it.
SxS cape arrangement is about the fugliest thingy one can buy. The O/U arrangement is munch more elegant.
One of the cutest guns I have ever seen was lil' 20ga/.222 Fanzoj with flock of turkeys in the woods engraved on each side of the frame. After 20 years I still remember that piece it was gorgeous lil' turkey gun.

Steve thanks for the tip on the sleeving, I will file that away in memory.

Does this ,mean the barrel was sleeved or tubed full length ?

It looks like a typical sleeving job, though when well done it's really difficult to detect at all. See Morris Hallowell's site here for a good description of the process.

What nobody else has mentioned is that it looks pretty obvious that some "torch artist" has had a hand in those vibrant colours!

It's not a simple "torch job".

The case colouring actually looked pretty well done. I overlooked the seam from the sleeving.

Yeh, just get high condition Wincherster Model 37 20ga plus extra extractor unit from Jeff's Outfitters and you'll be set for few lifetimes. Why complicate things with useless rifle barrel?
