This request may be a bit off intended topic, so I hope ya'll won't fuss at me. This is a fine old gun, but is it missing the removable "clip" type magazine. Does anyone have a magazine available to fit the Sako L46, these were the actions marked "Riihimaki". I need a .222 or .223 magazine. Marlin also put out a model 322 that used this identical action, and J C Higgins also had one. Any of those should fit if they hold a .222 or .223. I'll gladly pay Dave's fee if I can find a magazine at a price I can afford. Please contact me off-line at kinglarr@knology.net. Thanks.

Try calling:

EDS Sport Shop
308 W Broad St
Tamaqua, PA 18252

(570) 668-1080

They do a lot of gun shows in Southeastern PA and usually have a couple of tables devoted solely to magazines, including many that are no longer manufactured. If they can't help, they may have a suggestion of where you can get it. I've bought a number of items from them over the years, including some stuff for long obsolete rifles, and have always been pleased with their service.

Mr. 40X, thanks for the lead. I called and spoke with Vicky there, alas, none in stock and no further leads. I will certainly chase down other suggested possibilities, I have looked everywhere I can think of so far.

Did you try Gun Parts Corp (the former Numrich Arms)? Or how about contacting SAKO directly?

I do have to say that if Vicky doesn't have it, you may have a real hard time. She's really good.

I emailed The Clip Joint, if they don't email back right away I'll call. Thanks for that lead.

Mr. 40X (I always thought your name was Mike W.) I already tried Numrich, no help.

This has proved to be a tough one to find. I sure appreciate any and all leads.

I've never had any dealings with this company.....
They list repros, but currently out of stock (of course),,, perhaps they'll get more in.

After my last post and link to the repro Sako mags, I was looking at the pic of their magazine and I thought it looked familiar to me. I checked my box of strange and wonderful magazines and came up with this one. I think this is a SAKO!?
>
It's missing the follower and spring plus there is a third small sheet metal plate that goes down inside under the spring first with a detent bump on it that holds the floor plate on. It is slightly bent on the top left side as you can see in the rear view pic. It's marked for cal222 Magnum. It has the box that attaches to the action with it also. (Upsidedown in the pic with relation to the mag)

If you can use it it's yours for free. I've had it for probably 25 years, time for someone to make use of it!

See what you think from the pics here and in the link in the post above. I think the follower is flat with a guide tab at either end and the spring is probably just 3 or 4 full loop wire spring,,, maybe a 'z' flat spring. Perhaps a spring & follower from another mag like a Savage Sporter or Winchester 43 could be made to fit it or something made up. Can't think of any single stack MilSurp 223 or similar cal mags that would yield a follower and piece of a spring but there may be one.

Kutter, I know a gunsmith up the road with a large parts bin, I'll sure as heck try to make that work. I do believe it's the proper magazine. How can I contact you? Or, send me an email at kinglarr@knology.net
