Set-Trigger-  Yes, the white line spacers were a joke.  Sometime back, I joked with Mr. Fewless about one of his works of art posted on the double gun forum.  The stock was as perfect as your first love so I teased him about an imaginary flaw.
mc-  I taught myself to build a stock and read every thing I could get my hands on to try to learn about fit and finish.  Someone, Jim Carmichale IIRC, said to always stock the wood a little proud to allow for shrinkage and future refinishing.  Nothing wrong with wood a little proud but the height of the wood over metal should be even from top to bottom- which this isn't.  Proud metal is a different story.  It shows sloppy workmanship.  This contraption has both unevenly proud wood and proud metal.
