Drilling Fortuna-Sauer circa 1974, 2x16G + 6,5x57R About 2 1/2" from muzzle on rifled bbl there is allmost invisible bulge (visible only by shadows) as result of stuck bullet and late tries to knock bullet out by hammer and ramrod. Target paper shows about 2" at 100 yards from 6 rounds. The seller wants $1800.00 for it including S&B 6x42 scope. Any suggestions?

Buy it and use it as is. 2" at 100 is good enough for hunting purposes. Good luck.

Geno- How are things in Russia? I first thought you were a "Goombah" with Geno-didn't realize this inter-net thingy was international in scope. First off, a good friend has several kraut drillings- Vierlings Ja?- and even with the bulge about 2 and 1/2" back from the muzzle, that is very good accuracy for a drilling-the connection to the above pair of 16 gauge barrels precludes the accuracy of a glas-bedded BA Mauser 98 BA with a Hart or Shilen barreled rifle, and that close to the muzzle the pressure curve has dropped- I'd have a gunsmith check the lands and grooves- if the Kraut 3-hole has Krupp Fluss Hall barrels, or even Swede Bofors Steel- you have the best- and the Schmidt Und Bendor-over scopes are in the same quality and price as the Kraut Zeiss- If you like the "bastard gauge 16" and it shoots like that-let's face it- a 50 yard shot at a boar in the woods of Translvania or Lithuania (home ground for Hannibal Lecter) and you are off 1" at 50/ or 2" at 100 as you stated-if you shoot for the "boiler room" with the proper bullet- dead boar-Go for it-and enjoy!!

Any idea about side ribs soldering on Sauer's from GDR, by tin alow or by brass?

2" sounds OK to me. Perhaps accuracy could be improved with a different load?

If this were available here I'd snap it up in a heartbeat bulge and all. I don't see any problem or safety issues shooting this double with a bulge as described. Jim

On target it looks like heating bbl problem. I think 6 shots from 1 bbl are too much for doubles, drillings, vierling etc. (it's in cm. not inches)

Did you shoot the target yourself or did the seller just show you a target? If the latter, it may shoot better than the target suggests.
In any case I'd buy it in a heartbeat, 2" is fine for hunting, the S&B alone retails for over $1000.

the S&B alone retails for over $1000. It made me think, what if something wrong with scope also? Broken scope plus drilling with bulged bbl. That's too much for one gun. I need to check it out seven times before final decision.
