One important point, I have a book of reloading big bore rifle ammo and it says you can use 30-06 brass necked up. NO, not practicable, the 9.3x 62 has a bigger base diameter

Hmmm. Max cartridge base diameter is .471" vs .476". In reality, brass formed from .30-06 seems to work fine in the 9.3X62, at least it did for me. Obviously, neither will work in a rifle chambered for the 9.3X62R.

Gentelman look at the man question again. He is talking about a rimmed version. The 9.3x62R can be made by using 9.3x74R,available from RWS.

There is a 9.3x62R Mauser, arimmed version of the 9.3x62. It is a very powerful cartridge. I don't know how old your drilling is. The only way to be sure is to get a chamber cast and have it measured. I am sending along some info for you to look at, hope it helps.
