Is there such a round in the rimmed version? I know there is the 9.3X62 Mauser which is not rimmed. I cannot find any place on the web that would indicate existence of the rimmed round. Any help much appreciated.

9.3x74R is generaly considered as a rimmed equivalent of 9.2x62. It is longer of course but the bullets are the same and the ballistics quite similar. - Jani

Jani,
I am looking at a drilling with the rifle barrel in the 9.3X62R. You don't think that the 9.3X74R will fit into the chamber? Serban

Kutter:
That's it and it use to be a pretty rare bird. Burgsmuller's 1930s publication list it(mit Rand) and with 9.3X62 ohne Rand as well as a 9.3X62 Magnum. But he only shows a pic of the 9.3X62. You're not going to get a 9.3X74 in a 9.3X62 chamber.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

There was a 9.3x48,57,70,72,80,82 all based on the same case. The 9.3x72 is still made today by RWS. There is also a 9.3x53r Swiss a 9.3x57 Collath, a9.3x72 Sauer which is bottle necked case, and a 9.3x53 Hebler, all are rimmed cases.there is also the popular9.3x74 which is more powerful than any of the others. The 9.3x57 used a 190 gr. bullet at 1700fps.

The Swedes refer to the 9.3x57 as the "potato thrower. I'd think you'd see that fat bullet in midair at that velocity, just don't get in the way of it! I have a 9.3x62, custom Mauser, 20" bbl, 6 port magna-ported (as it broke the wire crosshairs twice in a 6x45 Pecar scope) I did a ton of re-loading for it and have a bunch of data. My final load with a 270 gr Speer SP bullet is 2512 fps,3750 ME, I think, with AA2520 powder, very accurate load. Factory RWS 293 TUG bullet clocked 2298 fps on my chrono. Barnes X 250 gr solid copper bullet testing was discontinued as pressure levels were high, velocities low. Now I see there are relieving grooves on the bullet. I did cut some grooves on a X bullet on my lathe, it solved the problem but was too tedious so I gave it up. I use Norma brass, RWS brass seems too hard, bad pressure signs with my standard load, that is OK in the Norma brass. Mike

Can you find this round to buy anywhere or it has to be reloaded? Is it a high recoil round?

Sliver, well it kicks like hell with my handloads, I won't let my junior shooters shoot it. But these loads of mine are stiff. The Old Western Scrounger used to sell loaded RWS ammo, I believe. I picked up two boxes of Yugoslav Privi Partisan factory loads at a gunshow for $25 per box of 20 last month, in Canada. Why would you not load for a rifle so chambered? RCBS have the dies; bullets and brass are available, plenty of data. One important point, I have a book of reloading big bore rifle ammo and it says you can use 30-06 brass necked up. NO, not practicable, the 9.3x 62 has a bigger base diameter, which is why the writer Dave Scovill of Reloader Magazine fame created the 366 Scovill, a 30-06 case necked up to .366, (9.3) Sort of re-created the 35 Whelan really. The rimmed 9,3x62R version of the once again popular rimless 9,3x62 is a pretty rare bird. Unless you have a chamber cast or some other iron clad reason to believe that is the actual round this drilling is chambered for, I'd be skeptical.
There is no commercially loaded ammo for the 9,3x62R, it's definitely a roll your own proposition.
