Mark, the sideplates could not have been welded. That would have made assembly and disassembly impossible.
Jon, the front trigger is not articulated, I thought about it though.

Dewey, it, the piercing, is still is a nice feature. I looked at the pictures and thought that the front trigger was not articulated but could not be sure. The web treatment is a very fine touch. If you missed something on this one I would really like to see the next one.

That is a beautiful gun. Job well done. But, what about the checkering?
This can't be your first project.... what else have you done?

Thanks to all for the kind words. Now let me explain the lack of checkering. I never had a checkering pattern in mind for this project. What I was trying to achieve was an understated/elegant, yet sleek look overall (this is why the engraving coverage is so restrained). I think the smooth wood helps toward that objective. I also spent much time fashioning the hand in a "diamond" cross-section and did not want the sharp creases masked by checkering. I don't think that a lack of checkering is completely unheard of in the custom gun world. However if the new owner wishes, the gun can be checkered.

Color me green, with envy. You really did a superb job on that gun. Congratulations.
